Point Roberts – Easy travel from Vancouver

Lighthouse Marine Park Entry SignPoint Roberts:

Only 30 or so minutes from Vancouver, it offers Canadians a close and easy access point to our friends in the US of A.  We had the luxury of renting an apartment here for a few years to really get to know the town.  It’s an amazing little place to hang out and enjoy the sun sets in the summer and even the winter there is pretty.  There is a quainte little pub called “The Reef” which we had a few breakfasts, lunches and dinners at.  The food there is fairly good for a small town pub, compared to others, there is a lot of room for improvement.  There is a nice golf course there that offers 18 of some seriously challenging holes.  If you are like me, this is nice for the first few holes and then you get frustrated and just want to throw the clubs down the fairway.  One other thing to consider is that if you are travelling by boat, there is a very beautiful marina there called Point-Roberts-Marina,  that truly knows how to service it’s clients.  We had a 28′ sailboat there and absolutely enjoyed going there just to hang out at the marina.Point Roberts Marina Arial View

After getting rid of the apartment and only go to Point Roberts once in a while, we tend to either go for the day or stay in the campsite there.  Point Roberts Lighthouse Park Campground itself is situated in a beautiful location close to the beach and has most of the amenities required by the family campers. The camp sites themselves are very spacious and offers plenty of room for those with larger units, especially 5th wheel or motor home style campers.  The one BIG thing missing here, at least for us, is hook-ups. There is no power or sani on site so if you are going expecting to be able to use common things equipped in modern campers, make sure you plan around this. One other thing a bit disappointing with this site is the cost. It was $170 CAD for 3 nights which to me is outrageous. We have camped in many locations in both Canada and USA that have all the amenities and more, and has been a LOT cheaper. Convenience is the main factor for this camp site as it is such easy access from Vancouver and area.

On a positive note, there are showers at a small cost but having access to a quick shower can sure make a great weekend.

Overall, Point Roberts is a small sleepy little town on the Pacific coast that is a lot of fun to hang out at and worth bringing the family to have a nice relaxing stay.

Cheers,

Ken
